The IR & SS delivers monitoring services for Indigenous young people aged 16-17 at the time of their offence(s), who have been convicted and are considered a higher risk for continued conflict with the law. Reintegration and support services are for youth sentenced by the Court to a term of probation, conditional supervision or community supervision. These services are also for youth with a detention status as part of a community release plan. The Indigenous Youth Corrections Officers prepare a case management plan, guided by the risk/need assessment and determine if a referral to the Youth Justice Worker for Indigenous Reintegration and Support Services would be beneficial.

EJM provides monitoring and support services for Indigenous youth between the ages of 12 – 17 years who have taken responsibility for an alleged offence. With consent, the arresting police officer makes a referral to the Youth Justice Worker at Six Nations Correctional Services. The goal is to provide an effective, timely and culturally appropriate response to the young person’s offending behaviour. Individual plans are developed to demonstrate responsibility, provide an opportunity to recognize skills and abilities, encourage constructive use of leisure time and provide access to mentorship. Immediate and extended families are encouraged to participate. If there are victims involved, they will have a chance to join with the hope of receiving appropriate amends. Once the youth has completed the program a letter of completion is sent to the arresting police officer and the charges are dropped.
